        Dear Jochen and all.

         

        Here just in haste some info about the gas filling system. Please tell me if you want to know more. Pictures can be found at https://www.nikhef.nl/~i56/picts_gasfill/

         

        I further attach the manual and a talk in 2010 at RD51 about it. At that time we did not use a gas cabinet.

         

        The system consists of a simple table, 75 x 75 cm whereon a temperature controlled water container is placed. The gas

        bottle to be filled is pushed with a plastic ring in the water to get rid of the heat generated during the

        compression of the gas. Up to 3 components can be added to the bottle to a maximum overpressure of 20 bar. The bottle

        is evacuated first by a vacuum pump on top of the gas cabinet. The mixing ratio is determined by measuring the bottle

        pressure during the filling procedure.

         

        The whole filling procedure is completely automated under Labview control by electrical valves on the 3 filling

        channels. Only occasionally the system asks in the beginning some handling of the operator like closing a valve.

         

        The whole filling procedure takes about one hour due to the cooling down after filling.

         

        The gas cabinet is 140 x 62 x 205 cm, empty weight about 600 kg. In addition there is still a small table with the PC

        and the label printer. On the wall a small box is attached containing the drivers for the valves and the vacuum pump.

         

        Recently we discovered a leak at one of the non-return valves that had to be replaced or repaired.

         

        To connect the bottles to the outside world 3 small holes were drilled in the top of the gas cabinet. Later it was

        discovered that these pipes had to be routed by another way. The manufacturer of the cabinet claims that they easily

        repair this with isolating paste.

         

        Basically all components are still there apart from a fan that has already moved to another place. To reinstall the

        system in Bonn my presence will certainly be needed in combination with a local person at your side who is used to

        assemble stainless steel piping and Swagelok fittings. Due to the corona issues I prefer to postpone this to after my

        first vaccination which I hope to receive next month.
