Practical information

 

The tutorial / workshop will take place at Nikhef (purple building in the map above), room H331b - from the main (south-east) entrance, take the stairs on the right hand side to the third floor, and the room will be on your right hand side.

 

Access

Amsterdam

The best way to reach Amsterdam is either flying to Schiphol airport (connected to Amsterdam Centraal by NS train every ~15 minutes, costs ~5€), or by train directly to Amsterdam Centraal. 

Nikhef

Nikhef is situated at Amsterdam Science Park, a little bit outside the center of Amsterdam.

Public transport
Science Park has its own train station. Bus 40 runs from Amsterdam Amstel Station and Amsterdam Muiderpoort in both directions.

From Schiphol station
Twice an hour a train goes from Schiphol to Amsterdam Science Park directly.
Or take the train to Amsterdam Central Station and from there take the train (Sprinter) direction Almere-Oostvaarders / Lelystad Centrum and get off at Amsterdam Science Park Train Station.

From Amsterdam Zuid/WTC station
Take metro 51 towards Centraal Station and get off at Amstel Train Station. Bus 40 towards Muiderpoort will take you to Amsterdam Science Park.

From Amstel station
From Amstel station take bus number 40 towards Muiderpoort station and get off at bus stop ´Amsterdam Science Park’.

From Muiderpoort station
Take the train (Sprinter) direction Almere-Oostvaarders / Lelystad Centrum and get off at Amsterdam Science Park Train Station. Or take bus number 40 towards Amstel station and get off at bus stop ´Amsterdam Science Park’. Or just walk.

From Amsterdam Central station
Take the train (Sprinter) direction Almere-Oostvaarders / Lelystad Centrum and get off at Amsterdam Science Park Train Station.

Taxi

Depending on traffic, a taxi can take you from Schiphol to Science Park in 15 to 30 minutes at a cost of about 50 euros.

Meals

During the workshop, lunch will be had at Nikhef's cafeteria. 

The workshop dinner will take place at the Wilde Zwijnen on Monday 24th at 18:30, just 20 mins walking from Nikhef.

For dinner on other days, you can either try the Polder (cafe-restaurant right next to Nikhef), try the restaurants in Javastraat if you are staying in the Muiderpoort area, or explore downtown Amsterdam. Indonesian food comes particularly recommended by the locals!
