COLLOQUIUM "Self-Protecting HTS magnets: myth, or reality?" by Hans van Oort (UT)

Europe/Amsterdam
Description

High Temperature Superconductors (HTS) are all the rage nowadays in the design of future superconducting accelerator and fusion magnets. Over the last few years, the development of “self-protecting” magnets by using non-insulated (NI) coil technology has been studied extensively. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of NI coil technology and an outlook for the future of HTS in accelerator magnets.
