Precision Predictions for Polarized Electroweak Bosons

The discovery of the Higgs-boson measurements of its properties at the LHC was a massive success for particle physics. However, the exact nature of the electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) mechanism is still unclear. Investigating the longitudinal polarisation mode of massive EW vector bosons, which originates in the EWSB, could shed light on this question. Precise measurements of massive vector boson production at the LHC open the possibility to scrutinise the longitudinal component. Precise Standard Model predictions and knowledge of radiative effects are necessary for such studies. In this talk, I motivate precision calculations for polarised boson production, emphasising the role of second-order corrections in QCD.
