I will briefly talk about a series of papers on the idea of cosmological coupling of black holes and implication for an astrophysical source of dark energy which made headlines back in Feb. Essentially, the idea is to explore if it is feasible to link dark energy which accounts for the accelerating expansion of the Universe to SMBHs at the centres of galaxies. I myself only played a very small role in these publications. But given the amount of interest these papers have generated, I would like to present this radical idea and in particular discuss the observational evidence supporting this idea (and future directions).
