Description
In this talk, I will describe the nature of the electroweak phase transition in two particular extensions to the standard model and the consequent implications on cosmology. The first model is a Born-Infeld extension of the hypercharge gauge field which allows for the existence of finite energy electroweak monopoles, the production of which can lead to a delayed, stronger EWPT. The second model is the incorporation of spontaneously broken scale invariance due to which, the EWPT is triggered at low temperatures by the QCD chiral phase transition.
