Last Monday we had a meeting with the MoU partners of the EMR region. Thank you for your participation and the discussions showed that we need to meet more regularly, to combine efforts with the aim to promote the EMR site as an initiative from our three countries.

Practical issue:
- the administration of the MoU signatures is in hands of Rob van der Meer (r.van.der.meer@nikhef.nl). Please contact Rob if you have questions on formal MoU issues.
A few highlights of the meeting that were reported (not exhaustive):
- Germany: very positive statement about ET in EMR region appeared in the Dusseldorf coalition agreement NRW. We can further lobby.
- Belgium: a high level (rectors) platform has been installed: FETP (Flemish ET Platform). Point of contact for ET in Flanders.
- Belgium: the permits of the construction of wind-turbines in Dalhem will be re-evaluated.
- Netherlands: the Dutch National Growth fund will provide funding to investigate geology. Workshops with partners from E-TEST, RWTH, Liege, TNO, TU, KNMI etc to prepare these activities have started.
Concrete action items:
- lobby event: prepare a meeting with decision makers of the MoU partners at the ETpathfinder, potentially also at minister level.
- we need to further combine our efforts to position EMR as a valid site. This concerns surroundings, geology, Newtonian Noise studies, science, ..
- more thought is needed on the balance between the ET-EU activities versus the ET-EMR activities.
- installation of a dedicated Project Office with funding from INFRADEV, NGF and other opportunities.
- ...
Our proposal is to set-up regular MoU meetings of our EMR region, to proceed with this agenda.
Nick and Stan have volunteered to call for this meeting and set the date and agenda. Next meeting will be after holiday period, probably toward the end of August.
