"Holography in AdS5: classical currents, and the fate of perturbations"
Five-dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS) spaces have been studied since the outset of holography as natural candidates for realistic four-dimensional quantum field theories with an ultraviolet (UV) fixed point. In this seminar, we will focus on the holographic renormalization group (HRG) flow of a classically marginal perturbation at the UV which turns on vacuum expectation values in the center of the 4-dimensional conformal group. After exploring some classical aspects of the state generated by this perturbation, we will show that generally the perturbation will become unstable, and therefore relevant, as we follow the HRG to the infrared. We will then close by describing classically the decay process and products.
