Description
In 2015, Gravitational Waves emitted by a pair of colliding black holes were detected for the first time by the two LIGO interferometers. Next month, the third large observatory, the Virgo interferometer in Italy, should join this network, which will significantly improve the sky localization and confidence in the observed events. This presentation will highlight some of the experimental issues that were faced at Virgo, discuss the next steps for making a first detection, and will propose contributions that will facilitate the construction of third generation facilities such as the Einstein Telescope.
