Physics and artificial intelligence are interconnected. The 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics has once again revealed this synergy. While fundamental physics principles laid the foundation of neural networks, these algorithms, in turn, enable physics analyses with unprecedented precision.
Indeed, this emerging technology opens new perspectives for the data-intensive research field of astroparticle physics: could it even become a new paradigm for data-driven knowledge discovery?
In this talk, I will introduce the fundamental concepts of machine learning, provide an overview of its versatile applications in cosmic-ray and astroparticle physics, review the recent breakthroughs it has made possible, and discuss novel approaches and future challenges.
