Description
In the last couple of years there has been a renewed interest in understanding how energy flows in collider events. This question can be formalised by means of energy-energy correlation (EECs) functions, an observable first proposed in the 1980s. First theory-to-data comparisons at the LHC have showcased the potential of this observable to shed light on the confinement mechanism. In this talk, I will introduce another interesting application of EECs in the context of heavy-ion collisions. Namely, I will argue that EECs can help us understand the de-confinement transition and reveal some of the properties of the Quark-Gluon Plasma. I will present the state-of-the-art description of in-medium EECs and discuss the challenges on the path towards quantitative predictions.
