Title: The classical double copy from twistor space
Abstract: The "double copy” is an intriguing and recently discovered relationship between quantities in gauge theories and gravity. It has been applied to (quantum) scattering amplitudes as well as classical solutions, including those relevant for gravitational wave experiments. In some cases, we can even relate exact solutions in different theories, although why this works has remained mysterious. In this talk, I will show that certain exact double copies can be derived using well-established ideas from twistor theory, which also proves that they are more general than previously thought. No previous knowledge of twistors will be assumed.
