DESCRIPTION:Local Unitarity: a representation of differential cross-sectio
ns that\n is locally free of infrared singularities at any order\n \nO
ne of the major challenges in computing higher-order corrections of\n co
llider observables is the treatment of infrared singularities. Local\n U
nitarity is a novel representation of differential scattering\n cross-se
ctions that locally realises the direct cancellation of\n infrared singu
larities exhibited by its so-called real-emission and\n virtual degrees
of freedom. We take advantage of the Loop-Tree Duality\n representation
of each individual forward-scattering diagram and we\n prove that the en
suing expression is locally free of infrared\n divergences\, applies at
any perturbative order and for any process\n without initial-state colli
near singularities. Our representation is\n especially suited for a nume
rical implementation and we demonstrate its\n practical potential by com
puting fully numerically and without any IR\n counterterm the next-to-le
ading order accurate differential\n cross-section for the process e+ e
− -> d d. We also show first results\n beyond next-to-leading order by
computing interference terms part of\n the N4LO-accurate inclusive cros
s-section of a 1 -> 2 + X scalar\n scattering process.\n\nhttps://indico
