The talk is meant to be a pedagogical introduction to some recent efforts to probe holography quantitatively. I will focus in particular on new integrability and CFT approaches on the string worldsheet, which I intend to introduce and motivate physically. I will conclude by discussing the outstanding challenges of this program, and how I believe that they may be addressed.
